This site does not currently carry affiliate links, sponsored posts or paid placements. If that changes, this page will be updated to say so, and any compensated content will be labelled on the page itself — not only here.
How we would label paid content
If and when commercial arrangements exist, they will be disclosed on three levels, because a policy page nobody reads is not a disclosure:
- On the page — a visible label at the top of any article that is sponsored or contains affiliate links, before the content rather than after it.
- At the link — affiliate links identified where they appear.
- Here — the standing relationships listed on this page.
What compensation does not change
A commercial relationship does not buy a recommendation, a position in a list, or the removal of a drawback. Our editorial standards rule out invented evidence regardless of who is paying, and that applies to compensated content exactly as it applies to everything else.
Why this matters legally
In the United States, the Federal Trade Commission requires material connections between an endorser and a seller to be disclosed clearly and conspicuously. That obligation sits with the publisher. We would rather over-disclose than rely on a reader inferring it.
Advertising
We do not currently run display advertising. If we do, advertising will be visually distinct from editorial content and will not be presented as a recommendation.
